TELUS Device Protection Plan is one of the most comprehensive wireless device replacement solutions in Canada. Key details include:
- Covers cell phones, smartphones Mike handsets and mobile internet key's – loss, theft1, accidental damage, and mechanical and/or electrical failures after the manufacturer’s warranty period has expired2.
- Replacement wireless devices often received within 2 business days. Asurion may charge you up to $300 if you do not return your existing phone to Asurion within 15 business days (unless it's a lost or stolen device).
- Replacement wireless devices may be new or remanufactured and/or a comparable model.
- A $40, $80 or $150 non-refundable service request fee3 applied per approved service request depending on wireless device model. Your service request fee will be charged to your wireless account.
- Available at point of activation or within 30 days of purchase of the device.
- Maximum two requests within any consecutive 12-month period with a maximum $750 per service request limit.
- Important note for residents of Quebec and Newfoundland, the Device Protection Plan in Quebec and Newfoundland does not extend to lost or stolen devices.
The TELUS Device Protection Plan covers:4
- One wireless device per mobile number
- Also covered if reported as part of the loss to the covered wireless device:
- Standard in-box accessories, such as standard battery, standard battery charger, etc.

Device Protection Plan Exclusions
The Device Protection Plan does not cover incidents caused by (i) war, revolution, acts of public enemy or terrorist, labour difficulties, civil commotion, embargo, acts of government, or military authority, (ii) abuse, misuse, or intentional acts, (iii) pre-existing incidents with the client’s equipment that occurred before the client subscribed to the Device Protection Plan, (iv) changes or enhancements in color, texture, finish, expansion, contraction, or any cosmetic damage to the client’s device or standard in-box accessories however caused, including, but not limited to, scratches and marring, or (v) incidents caused by computer viruses or similar unauthorized intrusive codes or programming.
The following are also excluded from the Device Protection Plan: (i) contraband or property in the course of illegal transportation or trade; (ii) property in transit to the client from anyone other than TELUS; (iii) routine maintenance and consumable items, such as batteries (one standard battery will be provided with the replacement device if it is a different model than defective device or if the battery was part of the incident; (iv) antennas; or (v) any accessories (except in box accessories), including but not limited to color face plates, personalized data, or customized software, such as personal information managers (PIMs), ring tones, games, or screen savers.
If Asurion provides service for incidents not covered by the Device Protection plan, you will be charged up to $300 per service request for the Asurion service.
