OneWorld Translations
The Challenge
In addition to translating documents to and from several different languages, OneWorld Translations localizes software applications for foreign markets. For example, an application created in English can be localized for use in Germany, Spain and France, with appropriate translations of all commands in the interface and all help files.
Given the size of today’s software applications, this can often mean that OneWorld Translations deals with huge files – and any loss of data could be catastrophic. That’s way Jane Mitchell, the owner of OneWorld Translations, has always been a believer in backing up her data regularly.
“I used to back up to CDs”, she says. “But this was a nightmare. Because it took so long, I had a tendency not to do it frequently enough.” Working in the software industry, she knew that a better solution had to exist – and she set out to find it.
"I can have 5 GB on my computer at any time. So for me, the biggest thing is peace of mind"

The Solution
“All my connectivity – my telephone, Internet connection and domain name hosting – is with TELUS, so I was delighted when I discovered TELUS Desktop Backup,” says Mitchell.
Starting with the basic service, OneWorld Translations has since upgraded to TELUS Desktop Backup Premium service. Mitchell has set the service to run at midnight, literally allowing her to sleep well every night – and saving her countless hours that would otherwise be spent backing up to portable media.
The service proved itself recently when Mitchell’s laptop computer was stolen. “The violation was bad enough,” she says, “but the one thing I didn’t have to worry about was my data. There was no ‘oh boy, where are my files now!” She simply bought a new computer connected to the service, downloaded her data and went back to work right away.
“As a service provider, TELUS is fabulous,” says Mitchell.
