How can I be sure my e-mail is secure?
Since the service is an ASP, there are three security considerations: the service's servers, and the customers infrastructure, and the communication between the two.
The service's servers are behind firewalls and are further protected by the Internet Data Centre's intrusion detection mechanisms.
The security provisions on a customer's network are outside the scope of the standard offering, and any consultation on this matter would be addressed separately. The service does require that some outbound ports be open; which ports depends upon which e-mail access type is required.
All communication between these two infrastructures is performed by encrypted and authenticated protocols (128-bit SSL for Web-related access; Encrypted RPC for MAPI). If desired, a direct VPN link can be established between the customer's network and the service, but that is not part of the standard offering and would be negotiated separately.

Does the TELUS ASP service for Microsoft® Exchange include the Outlook client?
Yes, the basic service from TELUS does come with the Microsoft® Outlook client.
-
What type of impacts will this service have to my network? Do I need to upgrade?
A TELUS expert will evaluate your current network infrastructure as part of the sales cycle and will ensure that the minimum requirements are met.

What type of virus protection is included in the service?
The level of virus protection is from within Microsoft® Exchange itself, from an integrated 3rd-part virus-scanning product called Antigen from Sybari. Inbound messages are scanned before they are available for reading. Outbound messages are scanned before they are sent. The service administrators have the ability to run ad hoc scans of the database at a later date, should the need arise.
A more complete list of virus prevention and management capabilities may be referenced at www.sybari.com.

Is there any limitation/restrictions on the file size transfer?
There is no limit set for internal messages. However, as very large messages are not handled well by SMTP, and to avoid a potential Denial of Service situation, we have set a 10 MB limit on all in-bound and out-bound messages. This is larger than most other e-mail systems allow.
