Interaction Considerations

Business High Speed Internet

  • If you are using Smart Ring for a Fax/Modem on Quick Connect ADSL, a splitter will be required. One jack needs to be equipped with a filter and then is connected to the fax modem. The other jack is connected to the ADSL modem. Your telephone is connected to the out port on the Fax/Modem.
  • If you are using Smart Ring for your Fax/Modem on a line equipped with Installed ADSL, run a connection from one jack to the fax/Modem and from the other jack to your ADSL modem. Your telephone is connected to the out port on the Fax/Modem.

Advanced Call Forwarding

  • You can choose not to forward calls placed to your Smart Ring Number.

Anonymous Caller ID

  • Calls to your Smart Ring number can be set to bypass Anonymous Caller ID.

Busy Call Return/Enhanced Call Return

  • These will work with your Smart Ring Number.

Call Display

  • Primary number and name will display.

Call Forwarding

  • All calls will be forward to the number you have designated, but the distinctive ring will not be forwarded.
  • In limited areas, you can have the primary number only forwarded. Please contact TELUS for further information.

Call Screen

  • Calls placed to your Smart Ring number will be screened if your primary number is on the person you are calling, call screen list.

Call Trace

  • The last incoming call will be traced whether it was placed to your primary or Smart Ring number.

Call Waiting

  • A distinctive double or triple Call Waiting tone will be heard on calls placed to your Smart Ring number.

Do Not Disturb

  • You can choose to allow calls to your Smart Ring number and bypass your Do Not Disturb recording.

Answering Machines

  • Some machines cannot differentiate between two distinct ringing signals and will record all calls.
