Samsung GALAXY S4 - How to update your smartphone software

Keep your smartphone running efficiently by using the latest available software.

Before you update your smartphone, you need to know your current software version.

1. From the Home screen, tap Menu.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select About device.
   
   1. If your Android version is 4.3, you don't need an upgrade.
   2. If you need to upgrade your firmware, try one of the following methods.

Manually check for system updates

You can manually check for software updates. Connect to a Wi-Fi network before proceeding.

1. From the Home screen, tap Menu.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select About device.
4. Select Software update.
5. Tap Update.
6. If the message Your system is currently up to date displays, no updates are available at the current time.
7. Tap OK.
8. Tap Download.
9. Tap Install.
