Extensions Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is an extension?

An extension is a direct phone extension or user on your RingCentral account.

NOTE: As an example, Extension 101 for user A. Callers can then call the main number of your RingCentral account and dial extension 101 to reach user A.

2. How do I add an extension in my RingCentral account?
You must log in to your account as an administrator to add users. To learn how to do this, click here.

3. Can I make outbound calls using my extension?
No. In order to make outbound calls, you will need to purchase a DigitalLine. To learn how to add a DigitalLine on your account, click here.

4. How do I change the security settings of my extension?
You will need to log in to your RingCentral account to change the security settings of your extension, click here.

NOTE: Administrators will no longer need to know their extension user's current password when changing password in the online account. To learn more about this, click here.
