Greetings - Customizing your extensions greeting

Custom greetings allow you to change what callers hear when they connect to your extension. Follow these instructions to change the greeting of an extension.

Step 1:

Log into your  Business Connect Voice Manager account

Step 2:

Go to Settings 

If you are an Administrator on the account, click Phone System.

If you are a User on the account, click My Settings


Step 3:

If you are a User on the account,click Screening, Greeting & Hold Music.

Click Set Greeting.

For more information on how a User can record a message, move to Step 4.

If you are an Administrator on the account, click Users. 

Click the User you want to edit.

Click Screening, Greeting & Hold Music.

Choose whether to customize greetings during User Hours or After Hours.

NOTE: The User Hours and After Hours tabs will be visible if the Hours of Operations of the extension is not set to 24 Hours.

Click Set Greeting.

QUICK TIP: Set User greeting to On if you don't see this option.

Step 4:

Click the Custom radio button to customize your greeting. There are three (3) options to do this:

  • Record Over the Phone
  • Record Using your Computer Microphone
  • Import


Record Over the Phone - This option will allow you to enter your telephone number and the system will try to reach the phone number you keyed in, after which you will be given instructions on to record your greeting.


Record Using your Computer Microphone - This will allow you to record your own extension greeting using your computer's microphone.

Import - This option will allow you to upload a customized pre-recorded audio file stored from your computer.

NOTE: You can only use .wav or .MP3 audio files. Wav audio files should be PCM 8bit 16khtz. You can use a third-party software that detects the media info of the audio file.

Step 5:

Click Save again to retain the changes.
