Business Connect - Updating your Softphone Account Information

This article will guide you on how to update my Softphone account information. This is needed to resolve some Softphone issues that may arise from changing passwords or extension number.


When a user's password is changed, the Softphone will give the error: “Unable to verify your account information. Would you like to change it now?” The password needs to be updated manually on the RingCentral Applications: Softphone and Mobile App.

To resolve this error, update the RingCentral Softphone's account information by following the steps below:

Step 1:
Launch the Softphone.

Step 2:
Click Menu > Options. To learn how to check the current version of your Softphone, click here.

Step 3:
Enter your correct account information on the fields provided and ensure that the password is correct.

  • Phone Number or User ID
  • Extension (optional)
  • Password

Step 4:
Click OK.

You have now updated your Softphone account information.
