Set up email for your Android phone

Follow the steps to setup your email for your Android device.

Setting up email on your Android phone

1. From the home screen, tap menu.

2. Select settings.

3. Scroll down to accounts and select add account.

4. Select the type of account you would like to add.

5. Type your email address.

6. Type your password.

7. Tap next (NOTE: If your smartphone can't automatically set up your email account, you'll have to set it up manually.)

  • Select the type of account.
  • Type your username.
  • Type your password.
  • Type your POP3 or IMAP server name. If you're not sure of these settings, see popular email providers for details.
  • Select the security type. Typically this should be set to none.
  • Tap Next.
  • Type the SMTP server. (NOTE: If you're using a Wi-Fi network connection, you may need to use the SMTP (outgoing mail) server associated with your Wi-Fi Internet service provider.)
  • Select the security type. Typically this should be set to none.
  • Type the port. Typically, this is 25, 587, or 465 with SSL. (Note: For accounts, use port 1025.)
  • If you're setting up a email account, place a checkmark in the require sign-in check box.
  • Tap next.
  • Set your personal preferences for email check frequency and tap next

8. Give this account a name. This is optional and can be whatever will allow you to identify this account.

9. Type your name. This is the name that displays to recipients of your sent email.

10. Tap done.
