iPhone 5S - How to transfer your contacts from an Android device to your iPhone

Back up your Android device

A Gmail account is required when setting up an Android device in order to synchronize your contacts. Yahoo and Hotmail can be accommodated later to add the synchronization of those accounts.

While connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network, complete the following steps to back up your Android contacts to the desired account:

Android 2.x

  1. Tap or click Settings.
  2. Select Accounts & Sync.
  3. Select the desired account.
  4. Ensure that Contacts is selected.

Android 4.x

  1. Tap or click Settings.
  2. Select Accounts & Sync.
  3. Verify that Sync is On.
  4. Tap or click the desired account.
  5. Ensure that Contacts is selected.

Transfer your contacts to your iPhone

Connect the new iPhone to a Wi-Fi or cellular network and perform the following steps:

Gmail

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Select Add Account.
  4. Select Microsoft Exchange.
  5. Enter your full Gmail address in the email and username fields.
  6. Enter your Password.
  7. Leave the Domain field blank.
  8. Tap Next.
  9. In the Server field, type m.google.com.
  10. Set Sync to On under Contacts, Calendars, and tap Save.

Yahoo

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Select Add Account.
  4. Select Yahoo.
  5. Enter your full email address in the email field.
  6. Enter your password.
  7. Select Next.
  8. Set Sync to On under Contacts, Calendars, and tap Save.

Hotmail

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Select Add Account.
  4. Select Hotmail.
  5. Enter your full email address in the email field.
  6. Enter your password.
  7. Select Next.
  8. Set Sync to On under Contacts, Calendars, and tap Save.
  9. Your contacts and calendar entries synchronize with your iPhone.
