Set up an existing Gmail account

If you are using a Google Gmail account, follow these steps.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Accounts and select Add account.
  4. Select Google.
  5. Tap Existing.
  6. Type your Gmail email address.
  7. Type your Gmail password.
  8. Tap the right arrow.
  9. Tap OK.
  10. Tap Not now.
  11. Tap Not now.
  12. Select the options you would like to synchronize with your Google account.
  13. Tap the right arrow.
  14. Your Gmail account is set up on your smartphone.

To set up a new Gmail account

If you do not have a Gmail account but would like to create one for use on your smartphone, follow these steps.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Accounts and select Add account.
  4. Select Google.
  5. Tap New and follow the onscreen instructions.
  6. Your new Gmail account is created.

Set up a personal email account

Before you begin, you'll need to know the specific incoming (POP or IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) server settings for your email account. If you're not sure of these settings, see popular email providers for details, or contact your email service provider.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Accounts and select Add account.
  4. Select Email.
  5. Type your email address and password.
  6. Tap Next.
    NOTE: If your smartphone can't automatically set up your email account, you'll have to set it up manually.
    1. Select the Protocol (POP3 or IMAP).
    2. Verify your Username.
    3. The Password should already be entered. If it is not, enter it.
    4. Type your POP3 or IMAP server name. Consult our list of popular email server providers.
    5. Select the Security type . Typically this should be set to None.
    6. Select your preference under Delete email from server.
    7. Tap Next . The Outgoing server settings screen is displayed.
    8. Verify the SMTP server. Consult our list of popular email server providers.
    9. Edit the port number if necessary.
    10. Select the Security type. Typically this should be set to None.
    11. Tap Next.
  7. Set your personal preferences, then tap Next.
  8. Type an Account name.
  9. Type Your name. This is the name that is displayed to recipients of your sent email.
  10. Tap Next.
  11. Your email account is set up.

Delete an email account

You can delete unused or unwanted email accounts from your smartphone. Deleting unused or unwanted email accounts can reduce your monthly data usage, and allow your smartphone to run more efficiently.

NOTE: If you are using a corporate smartphone, your corporate network security settings may not allow you to delete email accounts. Contact your corporate network administrator for further assistance.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Accounts and select the type of account to be deleted.
  4. Tap the desired email address.
  5. Tap Menu at the top right corner of the screen.
  6. Select Remove account.
  7. Tap Remove account.
  8. Your email account is deleted from your smartphone.
