Samsung Galaxy S III™ How to set up email
Before you begin, you'll need to know the specific incoming (POP or IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) server settings for your email account.
- From the Home screen, tap Email.
- Type your Email address.
- Type your Password.
- Tap Next.
NOTE: If your smartphone can't automatically set up your email account, you'll have to set it up manually. - Select the type of account.
- Type your Username.
- Type your Password.
- Type your POP3 or IMAP server name.
- Select the Security type. Typically this should be set to None.
- Tap Next.
- Type the SMTP server.
- Select the Security type. Typically this should be set to None.
- Type the Port.
- Tap Next.
- Set your personal preferences for Email check frequency and tap Next.
- Give this account a name. This is optional and can be whatever will allow you to identify this account.
- Type Your name. This is the name that displays to recipients of your sent email.
- Tap Done.
- Your email account is set up.
To set up an existing Gmail account
If you are using a Google Gmail account, follow these steps.
- From the Home screen, tap Apps.
- Tap Gmail.
- Tap Existing.
- Type your Gmail email address.
- Type your Gmail password.
- Tap Sign in.
- Tap Not now.
- Tap Next.
- Your Gmail account is set up on your smartphone.
To set up a new Gmail account
If you do not have a Gmail account but would like to create one for use on your smartphone, follow these steps.
- From the Home screen, tap Apps.
- Tap Gmail.
- Tap New and follow the prompts.
- Your new Gmail account is created.
