Samsung Galaxy S III™ How to set up email

Before you begin, you'll need to know the specific incoming (POP or IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) server settings for your email account.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Email.
  2. Type your Email address.
  3. Type your Password.
  4. Tap Next.
    NOTE: If your smartphone can't automatically set up your email account, you'll have to set it up manually.
  5. Select the type of account.
  6. Type your Username.
  7. Type your Password.
  8. Type your POP3 or IMAP server name.
  9. Select the Security type. Typically this should be set to None.
  10. Tap Next.
  11. Type the SMTP server.
  12. Select the Security type. Typically this should be set to None.
  13. Type the Port.
  14. Tap Next.
  15. Set your personal preferences for Email check frequency and tap Next.
  16. Give this account a name. This is optional and can be whatever will allow you to identify this account.
  17. Type Your name. This is the name that displays to recipients of your sent email.
  18. Tap Done.
  19. Your email account is set up.

To set up an existing Gmail account

If you are using a Google Gmail account, follow these steps.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Gmail.
  3. Tap Existing.
  4. Type your Gmail email address.
  5. Type your Gmail password.
  6. Tap Sign in.
  7. Tap Not now.
  8. Tap Next.
  9. Your Gmail account is set up on your smartphone.

To set up a new Gmail account

If you do not have a Gmail account but would like to create one for use on your smartphone, follow these steps.

  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Gmail.
  3. Tap New and follow the prompts.
  4. Your new Gmail account is created.
