BlackBerry® Z30 - Can't place or receive calls

Check signal strength

The signal strength may be low.

  • Make sure you have at least two bars of signal strength with 3G or 4G LTE in the network indicator.
  • If you have low signal strength, move to a location with better coverage. Concrete and steel buildings may be hindering reception, especially in elevators and underground locations like basements, subways, and tunnels.

Check coverage maps

Check our network maps to be sure that you’re in an area with coverage.

Check Call Blocking settings

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
  2. Swipe down from the top border of the screen.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Select Call Blocking.
  5. Turn Off the required settings.

Check Fixed Dialing Numbers

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
  2. Swipe down from the top border of the screen.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Select Fixed Dialing Numbers.
  5. Turn Off Fixed Dialing Numbers or Edit the list of numbers.
  6. Type the PIN2. The default PIN is 1234 unless you have changed it.
  7. Fixed Dialing Numbers is disabled or the number has been added to the list of allowed numbers.

Check Airplane Mode Setting

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Settings icon.
  2. Select Network Connections.
  3. Turn Off Airplane Mode.
  4. Airplane Mode is disabled.

Reset the network connection

Your smartphone may have a poor connection to the network. Resetting the network connection can help resolve this problem.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Settings icon.
  2. Select Network Connections.
  3. Select Mobile Network.
  4. Select Manual under the Network Selection Mode dropdown menu.
  5. Tap Scan. The network connection resets while the smartphone scans for networks.
  6. Select TELUS.
  7. Select Automatic under the Network Selection Mode dropdown menu.
  8. Your network connection is reset.

Check your SIM card

Your TELUS SIM card may not be inserted properly.

  1. Turn off your device.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Remove your SIM card.
  4. Inspect the contacts of your SIM card for signs of damage such as rust or deep scratches.
    NOTE: If your SIM card shows signs of damage, visit a Product Care Centre. Use our Store Locator to find the closest location.
  5. Reinsert your SIM card, taking care to insert it properly.
  6. Reinsert the battery.
  7. Your BlackBerry restarts.
