Huawei E3276 4G LTE Mobile Internet Key - Unable to connect while travelling outside Canada

Your travelling may have taken you to a location where your mobile Internet key can't connect to the Internet. To resolve the issue, try the following.

Check signal strength

Your present location may have weak network coverage.

  • Make sure you have at least two bars of signal strength with 4G LTE, 4G DC-HSPA+, 4G or 3G in the network indicator.
  • If you have low signal strength, move to a location with better coverage. Concrete and steel buildings may be hindering reception, especially in elevators and underground locations like basements, subways, and tunnels.

Check our network maps to be sure that you’re in an area with coverage.

Check network selection options

Setting up your mobile Internet key to detect all available networks can help resolve this problem.

  1. From the Huawei Connection Manager, click Disconnect.
  2. Click the Menu icon.
  3. Click Options.
  4. From the left pane, click Network.
  5. Click Network Type.
  6. From the Network Type menu, select AUTO.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Connect.
  10. Your mobile Internet key is set up to detect all available networks.

Check roaming setting

Your Connection Manager may not be configured to establish a data connection while travelling outside Canada. To check this setting, do the following.

  1. From the Huawei Connection Manager, click Disconnect.
  2. Click the Menu icon.
  3. Click Options.
  4. From the left pane, click Auto-launch Option.
  5. Clear the Disable when roaming check box.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Connection Manager is configured to establish a data connection while travelling.

Check SIM card

Check that your SIM card is a TELUS brand V3 (4G LTE-capable) SIM card.

  1. Your SIM card is a TELUS 4G LTE-capable SIM card if:
    1. It is purple in color.
    2. The serial number on the back of the card ends with V3.
  2. To check whether your SIM card has been activated by TELUS, visit a Product Care Centre.
